Why Choose Imperium Outdoor Services for Concrete Removal & Demolition in Denver, CO

Concrete removal and demolition is the job you call for when a slab, driveway, sidewalk, patio, or old foundation has to come out before you can regrade, rebuild, or just reclaim the space. Imperium Outdoor Services breaks the concrete up, loads it, and hauls it off the lot, then rakes the ground back so the pad is actually workable, not just cleared on the surface. This is hardscape breakout and haul-off, not whole-structure teardown. If a building has to come down, that is our demolition services side. Veteran-owned and owner-operated, Devin walks every site in person before quoting. Call (303) 505-0976 for a free on-site estimate.

Most people searching concrete removal are looking at one stubborn piece of hardscape and wondering whether it is a rented-jackhammer weekend or a crew-and-machine job. Here is the honest Front Range answer.

What Concrete Removal Actually Covers

Concrete removal, in the way it actually gets searched and bought, is the breaking out and hauling away of flatwork and footings: the stuff poured flat on the ground or set as a base. We handle the full range of it, and we keep it scoped tight so it does not get confused with tearing a building down.

Because we already run the equipment and the haul trucks for land clearing and excavation, breaking out a driveway and getting the pieces off the lot is the front half of work we do every week, not a one-off we sub to somebody else. Get a free quote and tell us what is sitting on the ground.

Driveway & Slab Removal: What Actually Changes the Price

Driveway and slab removal looks simple from the curb and surprises people once the breaker hits it. The thing that changes the day is what is inside the pour. Front Range flatwork from the 1970s through the 1990s often carries heavier rebar than the surface suggests, and garage pads and old agricultural footings run thicker than a typical 4-inch residential slab. A slab that reads like a quick break-out can run two to three times longer the moment you hit tight-grid #5 rebar. We do not quote that blind. Devin walks it, reads the edges and any exposed rebar, and gives you a number that holds. The other half of the job is weight. Broken concrete is heavy, and the cost driver on a removal is almost always how many loads leave the property. A tight infill lot in Denver takes longer to load out than open acreage, and access to the slab, whether a machine can even reach it, matters as much as the square footage. Call (303) 505-0976 and we will come look before anything moves.

Every Kind of Concrete We Break Out and Haul

01

Driveways and slabs

Full driveway tear-outs and interior slab removal, broken out, loaded, and hauled, not left in a pile for the next crew to work around.
02

Sidewalks and walkways

Public and private walkways, approach aprons, and old cracked sidewalk runs broken out clean to the edge so a new pour has a true line.
03

Patios, porches, and pool decks

Patio slabs, porch pads, and pool-deck concrete removed so you can regrade, relandscape, or rebuild the hardscape from scratch.
04

Footings and old foundations

Old strip footings, grade beams, and small foundation pads pulled from the ground. If a whole building is still standing, that is our demolition scope instead.
05

Recycled where it makes sense

Clean concrete goes for recycling and crushing where practical, which keeps it out of the landfill and can cut disposal cost. We tell you on the walk whether yours qualifies.
06

Ground raked back to a working grade

Once the hardscape is gone we rake the ground back so it drains and reads clean, ready for a new pour, grading, or landscaping.

Why Front Range Hardscape Comes Out in the First Place

There is a real reason to pull old hardscape on the Front Range beyond just wanting it gone, and it is underfoot. The south and west metro sits on expansive bentonite clay that swells when it takes on water and shrinks when it dries, and an aging slab sitting on that clay cracks, heaves, and traps moisture against whatever it borders. Getting the concrete out and the ground raked and graded to drain is often the fix, not another patch.

"On expansive clay, a heaved driveway or a slab holding water against a foundation is a drainage problem wearing a concrete hat. Pull it, grade it to drain, and the next thing you build actually lasts."

That is why concrete removal so often runs straight into regrading on our jobs. The same crew that breaks the slab carries the lot through site cleanup and grading without a second mobilization, so you are not scheduling two contractors to hand off one hole in the ground.

When Imperium Is the Right Call (and When We're Not)

Call us when the concrete is more than a hand-tool job: a full driveway, a thick or rebar-heavy slab, a run of sidewalk, a patio or pool deck, or old footings that have to come out and get hauled off. That is the work we are set up for, and we handle it across the Denver metro, from infill lots in Denver proper to Jefferson, Arapahoe, and Douglas counties.

Where Imperium is the right call is scale, weight, and access: enough concrete that moving it by hand is not realistic, rebar or thickness that beats a rental, or a lot that has to be left graded and ready rather than just picked over. Not sure which bucket your job falls in? Say so and we will give you a straight answer. Request a free quote.

Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How is concrete broken out and hauled away? +
On a removal job, we break the concrete into movable pieces, load it, and haul it off the lot. On flatwork, that usually means an excavator with a hydraulic breaker or a hoe ram on thicker or rebar-heavy pours, then the pieces get loaded into trucks and carried off-site. Clean concrete goes for recycling and crushing where practical, which keeps it out of the landfill and can trim disposal cost. Once the hardscape is gone we rake the ground back to a working grade so the pad drains and is ready for a new pour, grading, or landscaping. The number of loads leaving the property is the single biggest cost driver, which is exactly why we quote on site.
02 Do you recycle the concrete you remove? +
Yes, wherever it makes sense. Clean concrete, meaning slabs and flatwork without heavy contamination, can be taken for crushing and recycling instead of going straight to a landfill, and that often lowers the disposal side of the cost. We tell you on the site walk whether your concrete qualifies, because painted, oiled, or heavily mixed material does not always. Recycling the concrete we remove is the default when the material allows it, not an upsell.
03 Is concrete removal the same as demolition? +
Concrete removal, or concrete demolition, is breaking out and hauling away flatwork and footings: driveways, slabs, sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and old foundations. Whole-structure demolition is taking a standing building down to grade. They use some of the same equipment and the same haul trucks, but they are scoped and priced differently. Imperium handles both in-house. If your project is a building coming down, start with our demolition services. If it is concrete coming out of the ground, this is the page for it.
04 What drives the cost of concrete removal? +
The biggest factors are what is inside the pour and how much concrete leaves the lot. Slab thickness and rebar matter a lot: Front Range flatwork from the 1970s through the 1990s often carries heavier rebar and thicker pours than a standard 4-inch residential slab, and garage pads and old footings run heavier still, all of which add machine time. After that it is volume and weight, how many truck loads the haul-off takes, disposal and dump fees, whether the concrete can be recycled, and site access, since a tight infill lot in Denver loads out slower than open acreage. Every job is different. Contact Imperium Outdoor Services for an accurate estimate.
05 What areas do you cover for concrete removal around Denver? +
We cover the Denver metro and the wider Colorado Front Range, from infill lots in Denver proper to driveways, patios, and slabs across Jefferson, Arapahoe, and Douglas counties. Our equipment is staged locally in the Denver area rather than shipped in from out of region, so your estimate is not padded with long-haul mobilization. Call (303) 505-0976 to find out whether your site is in our regular service area.
